We had a really fun day on Monday. Anna Kate and I got to go to the aquarium not one time, but two times! Although we live less than ten minutes away we don't go very often... we felt like tourists in our own town! Monday morning we "visited the fish" with my parents and grandparents.

The butterfly garden is one of my favorite places!

Anna Kate was in awe of the sharks! She stood there looking at them for so long!

She had all the fun she could take!
Chris was very sad that he did not get to go with Anna Kate on her first visit. Fortunately, the tickets are good all day (and that they should be a $20 a piece)... we decided to take advantage of it! We called up our good buddies the Moncriefs (who would appreciate a free ticket more than Jimmy?), and asked them to come along. Sorry in advance about the plethora of pictures, but it's a really cool place!

Bye Ada! I had a fabulous time with you as always!

zoo

Last Saturday, Anna Kate went to the zoo for the first time! Chris and Uncle Lee were playing golf, so Aunt Brooke, Addie, AK, and I had one last "girls day out" before we add my little nephew to the mix! Brooke is such a trooper! She was three days away from having a baby, and braved the zoo in 90 degree weather! We had a great time seeing all the animals, riding the carousel, and wishing Hank (the zoo's famous chimp) a happy 40th birthday! The birthday boy! :)
Snow leopards... my favorite animals there.
AK's face cracks me up!
Goodness... I know she's my niece, but isn't she gorgeous?
Anna Kate was very excited to see the monkeys.
Her first popsicle. Brain freeze... oooohhhh!

Tuckered out girls...

We were very lucky to have Anna Kate's other set of great-grandparents come to visit for a few days! She always loves any extra attention she can get!
Four generations! (my dad's parents)

precious girl

Sunday, June 15, 2008

So here is a cute story... This morning in church the pastor had all the fathers stand and was saying a prayer for them. I was holding Anna Kate in my lap doing everything possible to try to keep her quiet during the prayer. She reached up, grabbed Chris' hand, looked up at him and said "Da-Da!" So precious!I love this picture!
Mom made us pose more seriously... :o)
Chris, his dad, and his brother Lee

We had a wonderful day sending time with our family to celebrate father's day. We went to early church and then to brunch at Blue Water Grill with my family (becoming a favorite tradition!). Then we all came back to our house for a little Wii bowling. After a short "intermission" and a THREE hour nap for the smallest member of the family we joined Chris' family at Smokey Bones dinner.
Chris and I are both certainly thankful for our fathers and the ways that they have provided, cared, protected and loved us through all these years. I am so proud of the father that Chris has become over the past nine months. He is amazing with Anna Kate, and watching him with her only makes me love him more!

Anna Kate got to meet her new friend Jackson on Saturday! Little Jackson Andrew Commander is certainly a cutie pie! Anna Kate was quite taken with the little guy and would not stop saying "ba-ba" (her new favorite word is baby). She wanted to have her eye on him the whole time, and even stole his pacie!

{rain, rain... go away... come again another day}
