shoes...

A little over a week ago (before our trip) I got Anna Kate some new "spring" shoes. I would have to say she is a bit obsessed with them! Every time she has them on she is always trying to either get them in her mouth or get them off to play with them. She has also shown a great interest in purses and jewelry (not hers of course). Such a "girly girl" already!

With the orders from the doctor, we could not wait to see Anna Kate eat her first veggies. So we took a trip to Wal-Mart to load up on some baby food! We decided to go mostly the organic route to cut down on some of the chemicals, additives, and preservatives. I am not going to be completely extreme in the organic thing, but why not feed your baby the most healthy thing you can find? I am also excited about trying to make a few baby foods myself. It's a whole new world when they start eating solids!
Her first vegetables were carrots. We chose this because my mom told me that carrots were my first! Anna Kate really enjoyed them! She made one cute face on the first bite, but after that she ate them like a pro! We followed the carrots with some pears for desert.

A couple of my friends are doing this on their blogs, so I thought I would give it a try.

Anna Kate went to the doctor today for her 6 month check up. She weighs 13 pounds and 11 ounces and is about 25 inches long. She is a little tiny girl! She is only in the 10th percentile for weight and the 40th for height. Dr. Smith was reassuring that this is just fine. He said that she is very proportionate and a very healthy baby! She got a little break from shots this time. There is a nation wide shortage of the HIB vaccine, so she will get that at her 9 month check up. We also got the "go ahead" to give her any kind of baby food and soft table foods. It will be interesting to have her try new things. She loves playing on the table in the room at the doctor because of the big mirrors there. This picture was of course taken before her shots. Her expression changed quite a bit after that. :o(

I found these adorable bunny ears in the dollar bin at Target last weekend! She wore them while we shopped there, and of course we had to get them! These are just some fun shots I got while we were playing in her room yesterday. It is like she knows she is cute and funny when she wears them!

I almost get teary eyed thinking that my little baby girl is half a year old. People always tell you to enjoy every moment because they grow up so fast. I don't think you ever really realize how fast it really goes until you experience it for yourself. It seems like yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital! The past month has been fun. She is sitting by herself now (still wobbly). She has most definitely found her voice and loves squealing (SO cute, but just not in the middle of church:)). We continue to get more and more of those deep belly laughs when she gets tickled or we say something that she thinks is funny. She has finally rolled over! Bless her heart she has tried for so long! She has also begun to discover her feet. Who knew she had such cool things to play with and suck on? She grabs and picks up everything she wants now. Perhaps our favorite thing that she does now, is reach out for us when she wants us and play with our faces. We go back to the pediatrician on the 12th, so I will update you with all her latest info then. I am completely head over heals for this little girl! Happy "6 month day" Anna Kate!

We like to stick what little hair she has up after her baths. :)

We took time out of our family picnic today to let my mom get a few shots of the three of us!
